Bus Customization

Every bus in your Bus Simulator 27 fleet can be customized to your taste. Official feature descriptions confirm that each vehicle supports skin selection, custom paint, decals, interior customization, and editable license plates. This page covers the full customization toolkit so you can design a depot that looks like a real transit operator rather than a default garage.

Customization is available across Story, Career, and Sandbox modes. You do not need to be in a specific playlist to open the paint menu. The tools described here are in-game features, not mods — though official mod.io support on PC opens additional skin and decal options beyond what the base game ships.

Skin selection

Each bus model ships with a range of pre-made liveries. These are the manufacturer and operator liveries that appear on real-world counterparts of the licensed vehicles. Selecting a skin changes the exterior appearance without altering the bus model or its performance characteristics. Skins are chosen from a menu attached to each individual bus in your fleet, not from a global wardrobe.

Exclusive skins are a separate category. The Deluxe Pack — included with pre-orders of either Standard or Year 1 Edition until launch — adds four exclusive liveries that are not available in the base game. These are not recolors of default skins; they are distinct designs created for the Deluxe Pack content.

Custom paint

Beyond selecting an existing skin, you can paint buses to any color you choose. The paint system is per-bus, which means each vehicle in a large fleet can carry a different color scheme. This is the primary tool for building a visual identity for your company:一致的颜色搭配 a coordinated fleet reads as a real operator, while mixed colors work for players who want variety.

Paint applies to the bus body. Wheels, windows, and trim retain their default materials. If you want to change those elements, decals or mods are the next tool.

Decals

Decals allow graphic overlays on top of the base paint. These can be simple text — your company name, a route number — or complex multi-layer designs. The decal editor in Bus Simulator 27 operates on each bus individually, which means a 20-bus fleet can carry 20 different decal sets if you want that level of detail.

Decals are distinct from skins. A skin replaces the entire vehicle texture. A decal sits on top of the current paint as an additional layer. You can run a painted bus with no decals, a skinned bus with no decals, or a painted bus with decals on top.

Mod.io community content expands the decal library significantly. Player-created liveries and decal packs are available for download on the PC version, giving you options beyond what the base game ships. Console players do not have access to mod.io content at launch; modding support for consoles is described as arriving later.

Interior customization

The customization toolkit extends inside the bus. Official descriptions confirm interior options as part of the standard feature set. This covers the driver cabin area and passenger compartment appearance where the game exposes those choices. The exact scope of interior options — seat colors, dashboard details, passenger seat variants — is tied to what each bus model exposes in its interior configuration.

Interior customization matters most for players who spend time as a passenger or who value immersion over pure utility. A fleet that looks consistent from the outside but has a mismatched interior is a detail most players will not notice; a fleet with a coherent interior theme is one fewer thing that breaks the immersion when you ride along as a passenger.

License plates

Every bus carries a license plate, and that plate is editable. This is the finishing touch for a customized fleet: a bus with a matching paint job, decal set, and a registration number that fits your company naming convention looks complete in a way that a default-plated bus does not.

License plates are changed per-bus from the vehicle management menu. There is no global plate editor; each vehicle requires an individual edit. For a large fleet this is time-consuming by hand, but it is also the level of detail that separates a toy garage from a simulation of a real transit operation.

Using customization with company management

Custom liveries and paint jobs are not purely cosmetic in the context of company management. Wraps and advertising are a revenue stream described in the company management guide — a painted bus with corporate ad decals generates income alongside the route it runs. The distinction is that an ad wrap is a sponsored livery applied for money, while a custom paint job is a personal aesthetic choice that does not generate revenue unless you specifically design it as a mobile ad.

The Deluxe Pack skins sit in a separate category. They are exclusive designs, not standard liveries, and they carry no additional gameplay effect beyond visual variety.

Mods and community content

The official mod.io integration on PC adds a second layer of customization beyond what the base game ships. Community mods include real-world manufacturer liveries, additional decal packs, and custom route designs. These are player-created, not official astragon or Simteract content, and they are subject to the mod.io community guidelines.

Mods do not transfer between platforms. A skin that works on the PC version through mod.io will not be available on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S at launch. The modding kit that enables creating your own bus models and skins is described as arriving later, not as a launch feature.

Practical tips

Start with one bus: pick a livery or paint scheme, add a simple decal with your company name, set the license plate to something consistent, and use that as the template for the rest of the fleet. A 10-bus fleet with one well-designed scheme looks better than a 3-bus fleet where every vehicle took an hour of individual editing.

If you are using a Deluxe Pack bus, apply the exclusive skin first before adding decals, so the design intent of the pack is visible. The four exclusive skins are complete liveries; they do not need enhancement, but they can be used as a base for additional decals if you prefer.

Interior customization is easiest to evaluate by riding as a passenger. Switch to the passenger role (available in all three game modes) and look around the bus from the seat. What looks fine from the cab can look wrong from row three.

License plates are the last step, not the first. Set them after the visual design is settled, so a vehicle that gets a repaint mid-game does not carry a mismatched plate through the transition.

Company management covers wraps and advertising as a revenue mechanic. Steering wheels and graphics settings are separate tooling that affects how your fleet looks on screen, but they are not part of the in-game customization system. Modding has the PC mod.io details.

Customization is a post-launch feature available from day one on 8 September 2026. It is not in the Steam demo. Do not spend time decorating the demo’s Solaris Urbino 12 electric — the liveries and paint tools are waiting in the full game.
