Bus Simulator 27 Demo Walkthrough
Tutorial, Mequina City Drive, Mequina–Alcaztelar coach legs, locked menus, and the 18 June 2026 patch.
The Bus Simulator 27 demo on Steam (app 4311090) has been playable since 15 June 2026. Simteract shipped it as a beta-status slice of Felicia Bay, not as a miniature of the 8 September 2026 full launch. You get a tutorial, one City Drive in a Mequina district, a long-distance run from Mequina to Alcaztelar, and the return coach. Two licensed buses appear: the Solaris Urbino 12 electric in the city and the Mercedes-Benz Tourismo on the intercity legs.
If you have not checked whether your PC meets the Steam spec, pause and read Getting Started plus system requirements. This page is the route order once the demo is installed.
Tutorial
Start here even if you played Bus Simulator 21. The tutorial is the only place that walks ignition or power, drive mode, parking brake, mirrors, and the bus computer in sequence. The Urbino 12 electric does not use a conventional gearbox; you set Drive rather than hunting for a missing stick. Door keys, indicators, and the computer login all appear before anyone expects you to keep a timetable.
The story framing in these missions is a public-transport restart. Felicia Bay’s previous authority left a scandal; your job in the slice is to prove a line can run with real passengers. That is flavor, not a full Story mode. Do not look for a company HQ, hired drivers, or a route creator after the credits on this mission — those tiles stay locked.
When the tutorial ends, sit in the cab and press every door key once. The controls page lists 1–5 for individual doors and 6 for all doors. Muscle memory here saves the City Drive.
City Drive in Mequina
City Drive puts you in one district of coastal Mequina in the Solaris Urbino 12 electric. It is a stop-dense urban line: tight streets, boarding, the bus computer tracking the line, and enough traffic that a late door cycle shows up on the clock. Log into the computer before you roll; the display is how passengers know which line you are serving. Keep GPS on until you know the loop.
At each stop: parking brake, doors, wait for boarding, ramp if the stop needs it, doors closed, brake off. How to drive spells that loop out. The I key cycles battery on this electric; you will not be managing diesel here. Watch the right-hand mirror when you pull out — Mequina’s demo streets are built for a 12 m rigid, not for guessing.
The 18 June 2026 patch reduced repeated story voice-over on city and intercity missions. If your copy still stacks the same lines, verify the demo is updated. Performance was the other talking point; turn on DLSS or FSR from graphics settings before you blame the map.
Coach legs: Mequina to Alcaztelar and back
The long-distance pair is the series’ first playable coach sample. You get the Mercedes-Benz Tourismo from Mequina to Alcaztelar, then the return. Speeds are higher, stops are fewer, and the scenery shifts from coast toward the mountain-framed twin city. This is not a city line with extra trees. Read coach routes and glance at Felicia Bay so you know why the gradient and the traffic mix change.
Treat the Tourismo’s length as the lesson. Brake earlier than the Urbino taught you. Use indicators before you leave a lay-by. The computer still matters: you are serving a line, not free-roaming the highway. When you reach Alcaztelar, finish the service properly — doors, passengers, logout if the mission asks — then take the return instead of quitting at the postcard view.
Locked menu features
The demo menu shows tiles you cannot open. Official notes say those features belong to the full game on 8 September 2026. Do not expect to open Story, Career, or Sandbox as complete modes, hire drivers, paint wraps, or build a custom network. Company management describes what those tools are supposed to do; it is not a demo checklist.
Four-player co-op is also outside this build. If you came here to test multiplayer, you will have to wait for the full launch (or Year 1 Advance Access from 3 September 2026). The same is true of the rest of the 45+ bus roster — no articulated, no double-decker, no hydrogen Urbino 18, no Irizar i8, no Lion’s Coach in this slice.
18 June 2026 patch
Demo patch notes for 18 June 2026 added NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR, reduced repeated story voice-over in city and intercity missions, improved Logitech G923 Xbox steering-wheel support, and fixed inconsistent speed-limit changes, plus smaller fixes. Developers had originally aimed DLSS and FSR at the main launch; they brought both forward after Next Fest feedback because performance dominated discussion.
Wheel support is still described as work in progress toward launch. If a G29, G923, or similar device feels unfinished, that matches steering wheels rather than a unique fault on your install. Recheck bindings after every demo update; the controls tables are public demo defaults, not a launch freeze.
What the demo cannot teach
The slice will not teach the route creator, timetable construction, hiring, line assignment, wraps and ads, or reputation management. It will not teach 4-player crossplay, passenger or inspector roles as free choices, or PC mod.io mods. It will not let you compare city buses beyond the Urbino 12 electric, or coach fleet bodies beyond the Tourismo. Sandbox collectible hunting across all 20 districts is not in scope.
What it can teach: starting an electric city bus, logging into the computer, keeping a short urban timetable, then surviving a first coach. That is enough to make Getting Started and the guides hub useful. When you are done, take notes on which job you actually enjoyed — city doors or coach miles — and read the matching full-game page instead of replaying the same two missions for a system that is still locked.
Patch history for this build sits with demo patches. Edition timing is on release date. Official store links are on links. Use the demo as a rehearsal, not as a substitute for the 8 September 2026 launch.
