Demo Patches and Remaining Work

The Bus Simulator 27 Steam demo has been playable since 15 June 2026, when Steam Next Fest put a beta-based slice of Felicia Bay on app 4311090. It is a preview, not a substitute for the 8 September 2026 full launch. Three days after that Next Fest drop, Simteract shipped the first widely discussed demo patch: NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR, fewer repeated story voice lines, better Logitech G923 Xbox steering-wheel support, and a speed-limit fix. This page records demo scope, those 18 June 2026 notes, and the remaining work the team has already named in community news.

For a route-by-route tutorial, use the demo guide. For upscaler settings after the patch, use graphics settings. For rims beyond the G923 Xbox model, use steering wheel support. Dates and editions stay on the release date and pre-order pages.

What the demo actually contains

Simteract has described the demo as a current beta build, not the shipping candidate. The goal is a first look at Felicia Bay and at how a route is driven and serviced, not a tour of every district. Expect locked menu entries. Story, Career, and Sandbox as complete modes belong to the full game, along with the full 20-district map, the 45-plus bus roster from 13 manufacturers, and four-player online co-op with crossplay.

The playable slice that coverage and the developers have outlined is small and specific:

  • An introductory mission that teaches bus driving fundamentals
  • A city route in the Mequina area with a Solaris Urbino 12 electric
  • Intercity round trips between Mequina and Alcaztelar with a Mercedes-Benz Tourismo

That mix is why the demo is still useful in June, July, and August. You can test a city electric and a coach on the same install, then decide whether Felicia Bay’s southern-European roads justify a Standard or Year 1 purchase. You cannot test the Deluxe Pack’s HESS lighTram 12 Plug or Alexander Dennis Enviro100EV here unless those models later appear in a demo update; they are pre-order extras tracked on the pre-order page.

Closed beta signups have already closed. If you never received a beta key, the Steam demo is the public build. There is no announced PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S demo.

Patch notes, 18 June 2026

The 18 June 2026 update is the noteset this article exists to preserve. Official Steam news listed:

  • Added NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR support
  • Reduced repeated story voice lines in City and Intercity missions
  • Improved Logitech G923 Xbox steering wheel support
  • Fixed inconsistent speed-limit changes
  • Some smaller fixes and improvements

DLSS and FSR were originally planned for the main-game ship. After Next Fest feedback, the team pulled both upscalers into the demo so the second half of the festival week could be tested on a wider range of PCs. On supported hardware those options can raise frame rate while aiming to keep image quality high, and they may expose extra features such as frame generation depending on GPU and driver. They are not a magic fix for every stutter; pair them with the graphics settings guide and the system requirements page before you rewrite your hardware list.

The voice-line change is easy to miss in a bullet list and easy to feel in a long session. City and Intercity story missions were repeating the same spoken lines too often. The patch reduced that repetition. If you still hear a loop, it is worth reporting, but the 18 June note already targeted the problem.

The Logitech G923 Xbox improvement is model-specific. Community news on 17 June 2026 listed a long polish queue that still included other Logitech, Thrustmaster, Fanatec, Moza, PXN, Hori, and Aerosoft wheels. Treat the G923 Xbox line as “this rim got a dedicated pass,” not as “every wheel is finished.” Details belong on steering wheel support.

The speed-limit fix addresses inconsistent limit changes, which is a simulation bug rather than a UI nit. If a posted limit still jumps without a sign, that is a candidate for a later hotfix, not proof that the 18 June item never shipped.

Known remaining work

The same community news that previewed DLSS also listed work that was not done in the first demo drop and is still the honest backlog after 18 June:

  • Performance continues to be tuned. Upscalers help, they do not replace engine work.
  • Traffic AI is still in progress. Heavy traffic, accidents, and crowded streets are a selling point of Felicia Bay; they are also a common demo complaint.
  • Physics are still being polished. Coach mass on intercity roads and electric torque in the city will both change as that work lands.
  • More wheel configurations are on the list beyond the G923 Xbox pass.
  • Eye tracking is later work. Track IR and Tobii Eye Tracker were named as planned for a later time, not as demo features.

None of those bullets means the full game on 8 September 2026 will ship with the demo’s rough edges unchanged. It also does not mean every item will be finished on 3 September Advance Access. Year 1 Edition owners who enter on 3 September should still expect a live title, not a frozen museum build.

If you are testing the demo to decide on a GPU, run the same route twice: once with native resolution and once with DLSS or FSR. If you are testing a wheel, confirm the exact model against the polish list rather than assuming the G923 Xbox note covers a Thrustmaster or Moza base. If you are testing co-op, remember the demo is not the four-player crossplay product; that layer is scheduled with the full game. See the multiplayer guide.

How to use the demo until September

Play the tutorial, then the Mequina city loop, then the Tourismo intercity run. That order matches how the developers framed the slice. After you can hold a lane and hit a stop, read how to drive and controls so bad binds are not mistaken for physics bugs. Company tools in the full game are covered in company management; do not expect the demo menus to teach hiring.

Keep an eye on Steam news for further demo hotfixes. This article will gain a heading per noteset rather than rewriting 18 June.
