Company Management

Bus Simulator 27 is not only a driving game. Official feature lists put you in charge of a company that has to restore faith in public transport for residents and tourists in Felicia Bay. You create and serve routes, manage timetables, hire bus drivers, assign lines, and customize buses with wraps and advertisements. The Steam demo does not let you do that work. Menu tiles for management stay locked until the full launch on 8 September 2026 (Year 1 Edition Advance Access starts 3 September 2026). Use this page as a launch-week briefing, not as a demo checklist.

If you still need cab skills, go back to how to drive, the controls list, and the demo. Management sits on top of those loops; it does not replace them.

Why the company layer exists

The story framing is a restart. Felicia Bay’s previous transit authority left a scandal — corruption and mismanagement in the demo’s opening. Your company is the replacement. Reputation is the resource under the routes: locals and visiting tourists have to believe the buses will show up. Wraps and ads are visible proof that the network is funded. Missed timetables work against that. This is why Career mode is described as an economic and managerial system, and why Story mode uses characters who hand out contracts and challenges instead of dropping you into a finished depot.

Sandbox is the opposite pressure: no money, no rules, drive or walk. Do not expect Sandbox to teach hiring. See Getting Started for how the three modes split.

Route creator

The full game includes an extensive route creator. Official notes say you can create your own routes and decide which buses run which lines. That is the difference between serving a premade Mequina loop and owning the network that connects Felicia Bay’s twin cities, towns, and villages.

Until that tool opens, the only routes you can rehearse are the demo’s City Drive and the Mequina–Alcaztelar coach. Treat those as samples of urban versus intercity design: short stop spacing versus long legs. When the creator unlocks, start with one city line you can drive yourself, then add a coach that you are willing to sit for. Do not draw twenty districts of service on day one.

Timetables

Timetables are how a line becomes a promise. The demo only lets you keep someone else’s clock. At launch you manage the clock: headways, first and last journeys, recovery time. A timetable that looks efficient on paper fails in Mequina traffic or on a mountain approach to Alcaztelar. Build recovery the same way you already brake early in the Tourismo — before the delay, not after.

If you play with friends, one player can own the timetable while others drive. That split is the point of multiplayer, not a hidden single-player extra.

Hiring drivers and assigning lines

You can hire bus drivers and assign lines so the network runs while you are in another cab. Official wording is straightforward: manage your route network and your bus driver employees; which buses drive which routes is up to you. That is how a 45+ vehicle roster becomes a company instead of a garage screenshot.

Assign with the map in mind. A 12 m rigid belongs on narrow coastal streets. Articulated and double-decker bodies belong on busy, high-frequency corridors. Coaches belong on the intercity work described in coach routes. Electric and hydrogen models from the electric buses page belong where charging or hydrogen logistics match the line — the demo Urbino 12 electric is the only one you can feel before launch.

Do not invent AI driver skill stats. Official materials do not publish them. Hire, assign, and then go drive a line yourself if the timetable starts slipping.

Wraps, ads, and the look of the fleet

Customize buses with wraps and advertisements. The pre-order Deluxe Pack adds four exclusive skins plus the HESS lighTram 12 Plug and Alexander Dennis Enviro100EV; those are cosmetic and vehicle bonuses, not management unlocks. Year 1 Cosmetic Packs arrive later through the season pass. PC players also get mod.io support for user buses and skins after launch — that is not in the demo.

A wrap does not fix a late timetable. Use liveries once the line already runs.

Reputation

“Restore faith in public transportation” is the published company goal. You do it with service, not with a single slider this wiki can document. Keep lines running, keep coaches connecting Mequina and Alcaztelar, keep city streets covered. Story contracts will push specific challenges; Career lets you chase the same goal without the script. If a route exists only on the map and never on the road, reputation should not be your surprise problem.

Demo lock, then launch week

You cannot open this layer in the current Steam demo. Do not spend demo time hunting a hiring desk. Spend it on doors and the computer, then come back here when Advance Access or the 8 September 2026 launch installs the real menu.

Launch week plan: pick Story if you want contracts, Career if you want the economy, or Sandbox if you want zero bookkeeping. Buy the fleet you can staff — city buses first if you liked Mequina, coaches if you liked the Tourismo. Standard versus Year 1 is an edition choice on pre-order, not a management unlock. Groups should decide who owns the depot before anyone draws ten overlapping lines; the guides hub is the index, this page is the company half of that index.

Official store and social destinations remain on links. Management is a full-game system. Until those tiles light up, the only company you can run is the one sitting in the driver’s seat.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about Bus Simulator 27.

Can I manage a company in the Bus Simulator 27 demo?

No. Route creator, hiring, wraps, and the rest of the management menu stay locked until the full game. The demo only lets you serve premade lines.

What does company management include at launch?

Creating and serving routes, managing timetables, hiring drivers, assigning lines, customizing buses with wraps and ads, and restoring public-transport reputation in Felicia Bay.

Which mode is best for management?

Career is the economic and managerial mode. Story uses characters and contracts to guide a company rebuild. Sandbox removes money and rules. See Getting Started.

Can friends manage the company together?

Yes. Up to four players can manage routes, fleet, and employees together in online co-op. Details are in the multiplayer guide.

How should I assign buses to lines?

Match body to street: rigids for tight city work, articulated or double-decker for busy corridors, coaches for intercity legs. Use the fleet hub and coach routes rather than putting a Tourismo on a Mequina back street.

Are mod.io mods part of management?

PC mod.io support is an official full-game feature for user buses and skins. It is not in the demo and it is not a substitute for hiring AI drivers.
